01 The Story

Preheat & vertical-up welding

Before CALFAB, there was the union floor: big structural assemblies held to tight tolerances.

Nine-plus years in the trade, a lot of it on big union structural jobs. Heavy steel, fit-up that had to be right the first time, everything inspected. I learned to build off a fixture table there. A CALFAB part still comes out that way: square and flat, the same every time.

CALFAB is small on purpose. The standard came up on bigger work and stayed with me. A large job in my wheelhouse doesn't worry me. Doing it right is the only thing that does.An anvil doesn't fear the hammer. Let's strike a deal.

02 On the Fixture Table

Built in-house. Loaded in-house.

Fit and welded square on the fixture table, then lifted straight onto the gooseneck, ready to ship and set.

03 On the Steel

Where the standard came from.
